What did you think of 'Ab Aeterno?'

What do you think about the episode? What about Richard's story?

Did the answers satisfy you?

Where does the show go from here?

Has your opinion of Jacob and The Man in Black changed?

So... the Island is a CORK. It's what keeps the evil genie in the bottle. And MiB is ready to smash that bottle!

Loved it that Hugo's ability to speak Spanish proved essential in bringing Richard back to the Jacobite fold.

Richard may indeed have believed he was in hell all these years, still unforgiven for his accidental killing of the greedy doctor. But why would he believe that when he knows it was Mr. Evil himself who told him so?

Ah, another doomed romance, this time with Ricardo y Isabella... sigh.

And now we know how the Tawaret statue was reduced to one four-toed foot! And how the Black Rock ended up in the jungle. Looked like a tsunami wave picked it up and tossed it there.

If Magnus Hanso and the other ship's officers all died, how did the mate's log end up being saved by his family, and later sold at auction to Charles Widmore?

MiB and Jacob really do strike me as warring brothers: one good, one bad. One in charge of being the other's jailer. But I don't believe they are really two sides of the same person, or that the twist will be that MiB is good and Jacob evil.

Did Jacob heal Ilana? She looked pretty bad in that Russian hospital. Next thing we see, she's out and looks as if nothing ever happened to her.

Very interesting. So, now we know so very much.

We know why Jacob brought them there, how the Black Rock ended up in the jungle, how the statue was destroyed and what the island is.

I've been stuck on this thought: What right does Jacob have to bring people to the island? People who were brought there because he wanted them also means others were brought with them. Those brought along often die, as well as the ones he brings to the island. Jacob says he doesn't intervene, that he's not a puppet master. But without him, they wouldn't face death over and over again.

Of course, their lives weren't often that great before. They did need redemption and Jacob gives them that chance. But how long must Richard seek redemption?

Of course, in the interest of containing evil, it might just be worth it.

One thing I'd love to know and hope we find out is why the black smoke sometimes "looks" at someone (ie. Locke, Eko, Richard) and decides not to kill. Is it because they are chosen to come to the island by Jacob and the MIB can't interfere with their path?

Last night's show really reminded me of God vs. the devil. God gives us free will but temptation and the evils of the world (the devil) are out there for us to take part in. While the devil does some lobbying for his side Jacob does not. Except in the form of Richard. Does that make Richard the Christ figure? Jesus sits at the right hand of the father. Richard is Jacob's right hand man.
